The Future & Tourism in the Heritage Park

What the Future Holds

It is the vision of the North West Province, municipalities, communities and private land owners to develop a "Heritage Park" that will attract visitors from major domestic and international markets to this remote, underprivileged part of the province.

Heritage Park will ultimately link Pilanesberg National Park and Madikwe Game Reserve in an enlarged ecotourism area of more than 250,000 ha within 15 to 20 years from now.

Although the area will most likely comprise a mosaic of different forms of ecotourism it may, one day, form one large Big Five game reserve with free movement of game throughout the entire area.

It is anticipated that the Heritage Park will contribute significantly to further economic growth and social upliftment in the region by capitalising on the tourism successes of Pilanesberg and Madikwe.

It is expected to more than double the significant positive socio-economic impact that these reserves already have on the region. Although the Heritage Park brand will portray its own philosophy and aim at establishing the Heritage Park as a unique destination, it will capitalise on the strong branding already established in the market place by Pilanesberg and Madikwe and intends to keep track with the ever increasing growth in tourism market demand.
